    Yeah, this just happened...right under the area I live in...

    4.2? Enough to rattle nerves (yes, pun intended), minor damage, even in areas like MO that aren't prepared for it.

    Hopefully it keeps New Madrid in check.

      Geez. With all the recent flooding, an earthquake is the last thing SE Missouri needs.

        I'm not even sure it would be a pun. A 4.2 right under you would literally rattle the nerves.

          It could be. Especially considering that a nearby levee was deliberately exploded right over the fault. Explosives + extreme flooding + fault line = bad The New Madrid is long overdue for a severe quake.

            I was reading a study a few months ago in my college science class that there's new evidence that earthquakes have up and down swings where they build up and then down from a major earthquake. They said it's highly possible that the earthquakes we're having now at the New Madrid Fault line are actually the down swing after shocks of the big quake that made the Mississippi run backwards. At least I'm hoping it is...
