A final note on this whole story.
It turns out that, when companies close down, they don't just disappear. The stores close, and then the back office has to do work to close out the books, pay the bills that can be paid, etc.
Yesterday was the final end. The books were closed. The taxes were paid. Any/all remaining equipment has been removed. It's gone.
16 months ago, I was ecstatic. It's amazing how quickly things can change.
Now, it's time to find yet something else. The new job kinda sucks, the old one can never come back. What's next? I don't know. But it's definitely time to look.
