*Moved from the Orientation forum. I felt it deserved its own thread here. ~Ree

guy comes in:"id like a new computer"
tech:"alright, we have some models in the other room"
guy:"no no i want you to fix the one ive got"
tech:"alright, what seems to be the problem with it?"
guy:"i dont know what all the icons are for."
tech:"alright i can tell you that"
*he gets the machine from his car*
*tech plugs in on a rack visible to the shop*(how i was able to see this)
(4 icons visible, ie,mycomputer,my documents and recycle bin, (meaning he hasnt touched the thing since he got it it

for about an hour the tech *calmly* explained the icons, going like this
    well, whats the e?
thats the internet if you have it connected.
    then whats the folder?
thats where you put things that you make in word, etc
    then whats the e?
    over and over

so the tech goes back and gets the guy "windows xp for dummies"
    guy leaves, happily

2 weeks later im in the shop again
and hear this message come in on the phone,

"i left my computer outside and it rained and now it wont turn on"

i meet this guy in the library a while later, and he tells me hell pay me to help him fix his computer
    (i suspect *correctly*more pebkac)
    i go the next day(with my grandpa(im 15))
the same story goes on for two hours
i cant remember it because it was just too mind-numbing(ive a good memory mind you a GOOD one)
during that he keeps insisting that a high powered workstation he got for free )was a ripoff(that imo he didnt deserve or need it couldve gone to a school or eedy kid or charity as i know they are always in the red )
it ends because i tape things all over it,
"d" over the cddrive a detailed explanation of folders and icons to his monitor, etc

    at least i got money
