  • Is this an appropriate use of the report button?

A bit late (I've been doing it for quite a while), but I frequently use the "report" button when a post is difficult to read due to wrong tags (IMG instead of WIMG, or a start/end quote tag that's had a bracket cut off when the poster trimmed the quoted material). Is it appropriate to use the "report" button for a situation like this? Thanks for the info.

Yep, that's fine. Any similar technical issue like that, as well. Makes things easier to read for everyone (which is also why we try to keep the quotes themselves trimmed to a reasonable level (4 lines or fewer)).

In some cases, such as one I fixed earlier, the system seems to occasionally hiccup and leave a bracket out of a quote -- you can tell, because someone doing a manual quote is unlikely to have a string of numbers and other characters at the start of it identifying the quoted post and poster If those are present, the system screwed it up.
    Thanks!

I assumed that it was someone hitting the "quote" button to reply, and accidentally grabbing the right square bracket of the "open quote" tag or the left square bracket of the "close quote" tag when selecting extraneous text to delete, rather than the system leaving it off.

It could be that, too. I coudl swear I've seen the system glitch out on it tho. The one from today was missing BOTH close brackets -- nothing to delete on the latter.
