  • Helps if you tell me what you see, not what you want to see

    SC: you know who
    me:

Note, I put thing in italics when I feel she isn't yelling but she is talking through clenched teeth.

sc: I'm looking for a book, Call of Times, America at the turn of the 1900's, by George Micheal. Do you want the call #?
me: one moment, I'm trying to write this down. You said, Call ot times, America....?
sc: *huffs* Call of Times, America at the turn of the 1900's, by George Micheal.
    me: one moment
    sc: Wait!
I placed her on hold because I'm use to patrons going on about useless info. I find one book by that title and author.
    me: ok, I found it.
sc: Well, if you hadn't put me on hold, what I want is vol 6.
me: There is no volume 6.
sc: YEs there is! I see it on the record!
me: are you on our website?
    sc: yes!
me: I see the book is in X, Y, Z, G, N, but none have volumes. ARe you looking under the "contents" section?
sc: There are no content section!
me: the record I'm looking at has a content section, but no volumes.
sc: There are mulitple volumes, I'm looking for vol 6!
me: tell me exactly what you typed in to find the book.
sc: I put in quotations, call of times, George Micheal.
note, you can use "title search" which I used when she gave me a title, or "keyword search" which you can use when you don't have the whole title.
me: Ok, I found the title "Call of Times, 1900-1930". I couldn't find it because the title was different then what you gave me.
    sc: I want vol 6.
me: I see there are only vol 2 and 3.
sc: The citation I have is for 1936, so there should be a volume 6, even though you only have the 1971 ed and the newer ed. Can you look at vol 2 and 3 and tell me they have the information for 1920?
me: the volumes are in storage, so I can't look at them. We can send them to you and you can look.
sc: It's in storage!?! from 1971?!!
note, I felt like telling her "do you know how many books we get a year, and what we have to weed so we can have room for new books? Should be glad we kept them at all. We don't have anything older than 5 years ago on the shelves."
me: sorry, but we can send the 1971 volumes to your branch.
sc: Well, I guess I have to call X branch to look at the book to see if it has 1920 chapter.
me: the X branch doesn't have the 1971 ed, it has "Call of Times, America at the turn of the 1900's". The edition in storage is "Call of Times, 1900-1930". I can get "Call of Times, America at the turn of the 1900's" off our shelf.
sc: just see if it has the 1920 chapter

    so I go get it.

sc: While you were gone I looked in the table of contents and I see it's abridged. It said, "chapter 6, the 1920's".
    me: yes, I see that.
sc: can you look in the table of contents and see if it has the "Ku Klux Klan" in it.
    me: yes, it does.
    sc: does it have footnotes?
    me: no
sc: It doesn't have footnotes!?! I need to see if they abridged out the information I need. I would request it for interlibrary loan except it changed and went to crap. Maybe I'll request it from the County system.
Me thinking, 'shut the fuck up and go'
sc: could you send this to the U branch?
me: ok, I need your last name and card #.
sc: my name is SC, and I have to get the card out of my bag.
me: ok, if it takes more than 30 seconds, I have to go to the next call.
sc: I have the card right here!
me: sorry, I understood you were going to take a while to get it.

There is so many levels of fail for this woman, her attitude really sucked.

Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

    I wish porn had subtitles.
