  • Here's an update on the original story: http://www.comcast.net/articles/news...al.Mart.Death/

"The 6-foot-5, 270-pound man died of asphyxiation after being crushed early Friday morning by the crowd...Authorities suspect that because he was as big as an NFL lineman, Damour was placed at the entrance of the store to assist with crowd control."

"The guy"? I was right with you till I went and read the article. They're not claiming a little 'push' in a typical black friday sale rush. They're claiming that particular mad rush, which Walmart failed to prevent, caused injury.

I'm not sure if I buy it or not, but I buy it a lot more than "being pushed around by the crowd".
I find that in many cases like this, people are just looking to pick up a nice fat settlement based on the tragedy of somebody else. "Back and neck injuries" is often, in these sorts of situations, a generic complaint meant to scare the company into settling so that they don't have to deal with bad publicity in court.

      • Dead man's family is suing Wal-Mart

There's also a video about the death at www.yahoo.com, but I'm not sure how to put the url into the posting. It's talking about how the family is suing.

I hope retailers rethink Black Friday Sales and get more organized with the crowd, or they scrap the sales altogether. I read the sales newspapers this year - there was nothing that grabbed my attention for wanting/needing anything new and I knew I'd be getting gift certificates/presents come Christmas anyways.

          • Unbe lievable.

And I get laughed at/told to 'stop acting weird' for sometimes saying I wish I wasn't human.
