I don't know if I'm going to or not. I made it to 50K last year and was so thrilled. I haven't finished the story, though, and I'm toying with the idea of using NaNo as motivation to write what will amount to the second half of the book.

I have other ideas for other books--characters and such--but I don't have the main plot element yet, and without that hook I'd peter out pretty quickly.

I'm doing it again this year though I've never made it to 50k (did about 30k one year). November always seems to be the month something happens to pull me away from it.

This year I'm doing a space serial type novel basically an episode a day

It's called Journey to the stars - A Radio Adventure written in novel form Slightly based on Charles Chilton's Journey into Space a radio serial that was repeated on one of the radio stations here recently.

I've written lots of books, and published seven. Along with two plays. I'm just not very good at it.

Giving it a go this year. Writing a sci-fi story about the discovery of a temporal anomaly immune to changes to the timestream.

I'll give it a shot this year. I haven't written much in the way of fiction recently, but I'd like to get back into it. Not outlining, going to try going with flow. If I over think I loose the thread. All my outlines have been for naught.

I need to have at least a vague outline. Last year, I outlined just the first half. When I was almost there, I went back over everything and planned the last half. I like going with the flow, but I need at least some kind of framework, so I will whip up a loose outline. Maybe. It's the 24th and I have a short story I want to finish first (about a zombie apocalypse from the perspective of an office plant), so we'll see how much outlining I actually get done before the 1st...

I think all my fanscripts would MAKE a novel

                  You can still participate, fireheart!

They kept it as NaNo because trying to shorten it with International over National just didn't sound good

                    InNoWriMo?

                    Maybe not this year.

But who knows, maybe I might do a novel based off of one of my current fanscripts. (in a similar vein to Fifty Shades of GRey, but without the porn)

I'm actually thinking of writing stories for children with learning difficulties that are age-appropriate, since it's always a struggle to find stuff.

No...that would still probably be porn, albeit for a more niche audience.

My first year was last year, somewhat to my own surprise after struggling for the first week, I changed my story and made it to 50k before it was over. I'm going to be trying it again this year, but I'm a little wary, I may have less free time with work, plus depression over CoH being killed Favorite. Game. Ever.

I haven't done this for years, (about a decade in fact) what the heck maybe I'll try again this year.

Ok does it have to be a novel? Could I use this to work on my blog? or a bunch of short stories?

It does sound like fun. And maybe I could get my blog off the ground
Make it work for you. I know the official rules are that you have to start from scratch and work on one story, but not everybody does that. People shape it to their needs. I know of at least one participant who worked on several short stories, I think his goal was to write one story per week.

Not sure how a blog would work for this, but if you can write 1,667 words per day over 30 days, you'll make it to 50,000 by the end of the month.
