  • 7 fast food chains agree to end 'no-poach' rules

    https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/12/new...ral/index.html

Eleven fast food chains — including Arby's, Cinnabon and McDonald's — have pledged to end so-called "no-poaching" rules that have prevented employees from moving from one franchise to another within the same restaurant chain.

Not sure why they would have these rules to begin with -- it means someone else *within your franchise* is getting an (at least) partially-trained worker instead of starting 100% from scratch.

Between franchises, not within. If a franchise #1 poaches from franchise #2, #1 doesn't pay for the training while #2 pays twice.

Of course, the "no-poaching" rules also keep people from moving from an abusive store to a well-run one.

Or do they? IANAL, but it sounds like the management can't recruit--no restrictions on staff moving on their own initiative.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

"But he/she came here looking for a job." Yeah, we have all heard that one before. It boils down to "They can't hire someone who is working at another franchise." And there was probably a "cool off" period after leaving. Those lawyers probably earned their money.

You'd be surprised how many of those no-poach agreements require a "no-competition" clause in employee agreements.
