  • Wet welcome to the world

This morning I went out to the barn to feed the hogs and cattle to find two cows missing. Both are due to calve so I went out looking for them to find two brand new calves in the pine/cedar thicket. They were born sometime during the night. A little heifer and a bull (soon to be a steer.) They were up and walking around but a little on the wet side. Between the wife and I we caught them and toted them to the barn to get dry and let their momma's eat.
With those two and another born last week we're expecting 18 more in the next few months. I like this time of year when calves come along.

Awww; cows are so cute. Baby animals of any kind, really.

      Can we see some pics?

I live near cow country and I never get tired of seeing calves.

Another calf today. This cow won't let me near enough to see if it's a bull or heifer.
I'll have to ask the individual momma's before posting any pics, some are real big on net-safety for their youngins.

Gotcha. As in all things, Momma knows best.
