Default Wherein I Help a Kid Score a Date to the Prom

Finally, I have a good story to share about the hellhole where I work.

The other day a teenager came in and told me that he wanted to ask a girl to the prom here at the yogurt shop, but he needed a favor. He had a 3 x 4 foot picture of the two of them photoshopped against a Hawaiian beach at sunset, and written across the top was Prom? in big purple letters. He nervously asked if he could leave it here for now, and that he would be back with her in about an hour. Then, as he was paying for the yogurt, would I bring it out and hold it up in front of them so he could pop the question? Now how could I say no to that?

Sure enough, an hour later the two of them walked in. By then I had told everyone what was going to go down, so everyone made sure they were in front to witness it. When they got to the register, he gave me the signal, I brought out the sign and he popped the question. She was surprised and delighted, and said a very enthusiastic yes. Then everyone clapped as the happy couple hugged. It was so sweet! It definitely made my day!

Oh. It's adorable. And doesn't qualify for a Darwin award.
