Default Nurse refuses to give CPR to dying woman, citing "company policy"

The woman in question died, while the operator at the end of the 911 call begs her to help

Quote:
911 Operator: “I don’t understand why you’re not willing to help this patient. Is there anybody that works there that’s willing to do it?”

Nurse: “We can’t do that,, that’s what I’m trying to say.”

This country is going somewhere fast, in a handbasket, no less.

The statistical likelihood is that the woman would have died anyway after having experienced the extreme trauma that rescusitation inflicts upon the body. Unlike what we see on TV, only a small percentage of people who receive CPR in hospital survive to discharge and that percentage becomes miniscule outside hospital. Of those who do survive, most do not go on to lead normal lives, instead they are dependent upon machines in a state that can be better described as merely existing, not living.

Statistically or not, IMHO that "nurse" had a duty to perform CPR. The rest of what I want to say is better suited for fratching.

I agree.
Take it there.
