Tama - With regards to Zynga, they are known for two things:

1 - Blatantly ripping off other people's games and then taking legal action (sometimes successfully!) against said games' developers, sometimes by way of ...

2- The practice of what has come to be called "Patent Trolling." -- Long story short, they start by creating (read: usually ripping off) another game, finding and purchasing a pre-existing patent that could apply to said game if it were interpreted broadly enough, and then suing the pants off of the makers of said game for "violating Zynga's patent."

We can't go into specific Patent Law cases here, nor talk about the ethics involved in this, as that could easily veer Fratchward -- tho feel free to talk about it You-Know-Where A quick Googling of the term and Zynga's name should tell you all you never wanted to know and more.

Why all this talk of underhanded? I don't get it.
One particular short lived word of note is when people were having problems with a game, Zynga's tech support told them to put all their information, including real name and account password, on a publicly available forum. The outcry was quick and it got shut down before any major media outfits got wind of it.

It's just one of many. There's a reason why when the first day the company went publicly traded it's stock value tanked.

Yeah, but I'm a Zynga player, and even though I know that they're practically evil incarnate, I'm not going to stop. That's how bad my addiction is.

Sorry to burst your bubble there.

Sorry for playing devil's advocate, but, evil as they are, they also did some good for us players, too. Like one time, I was playing Dream Heights (a ripoff of Tiny Tower), and I bought 50 Dream Cash, only to have it disappear. I contacted Zynga and they not only restored my cash, but added 15 more Dream Cash to my account.

And they DID promise to give us a special package to use for their other games.

No harm done, after my computer broke I needed to find something similar or I'd go nuts.

Unfortunately, the damsel could not be saved, and as of yesterday, cafe world closed its doors for good.

Not a Zynga game, but for those looking for a new Facebook game addiction, I can recommend Criminal Case.
