  • And that was when the trouble started.

"And that was when the trouble started" is my favourite punchline ever, here are two jokes that use it.

    Ball game insanity
The director of a mental institution wanted to take the inmates out to a baseball game. The trouble was (of course) their behaviour. So he started teaching them how to behave at the baseball. Weeks became months, and after one year they were ready for their first game.

So they all went along to the stadium and got to their seats. The director said "Sit, nuts!" and they sat down. The national anthem played. The director said "Stand, nuts!" and they stood up. Somebody hit a home run, the director said "Cheer, nuts!" and they clapped and cheered. Everyone was having a great time, so the director went to get himself some food and left the assistant director in charge.

When he got back there was an all-in brawl going on between the inmates and the people in the surrounding seats. He asked what was going on. The assitant director said "They were having a great time, then the peanut vendor got to this section. And that was when the trouble started."

    Hokey funeral

When the man who wrote Do the Hokey Pokey died, the funeral directors put a coffin next to the body. They put his left foot in. And that was when the trouble started.
