  • Storytime!: Harassment is fun!

So there's a manger at Fly's shop. Let's call her "Becky". Okay, so there's a customer who REALLY, REALLY likes Becky. He met her through the store and he's stalked her on Facebook. He also has a habit of requesting her "help". He always calls her by her full name(which no one does) so it's pretty easy to identify him when he requests her. "Is Rebecca here?" Becky recently broke off her engagement with a guy and no longer wears his ring. Stalker dude noticed and grilled her about it. And since then he's really notched up the stalkiness. He's more forward, brushing against her, just creepy AF. Senior management has started letting her stay in the back and do paperwork on days when he is feeling especially confident because at this point they fear for her safety. We call him "Becky's friend". Which is retail for "Becky's fucked up stalker from hell".

I wonder how far he'll have to go for corporate to ban him. I really like "Becky" and it sucks that she has to go through this. The other managers lend her their wedding rings when he walks in, so she can keep up the lie she told that her and her boyfriend "got back together".

Do you have any stories of creepy SCs who wanna wham chica wha wha with employees?

She should consider getting a protection order against this bozo. Tell them she feels unsafe. Decent men don't do things like that. The fact that he's brushing up against her is a red flag. Seriously. He doesn't recognize boundaries.

Do they confuse you for a phone sex line or something or is it intentional?

SC: So what are you wearing?
Corporate minion: Erm, khakis and a company issued shirt?

Hopefully he's already there. Statements from all the other managers and employees who've witnessed this should be enough. For crying out loud, stalker guy could grab Becky, take her someplace and force himself upon her. Or worse.

From call center stories I've read: the latter. These sorts of callers tend to find out quickly which call centers have policies forbidding the employees from hanging up on a caller for ANY reason...

They need to take the "kid gloves" off & take this bozo more seriously than they're doing. What happens if he becomes more than just annoying? What are they gonna do when & if he physically hurts her?Get the cops invoked. Can't be too cautious.

And document the days and times he shows up, as well as every instance of contact with Becky.

Agreed, it's past time for corporate to perma-ban this creep and let the cops know about this stalking as well. Becky needs to feel safe both at work and home and not be harassed by these sort of "people"...

Not that creepy, but more blatant.

A man whose vision was impaired used to come into the department store and ask to be escorted from one department to another. He started asking only females to do this and managed to feel their breasts every time he was supposed to take their elbows for guidance. The women wised up after several "accidents" and called men over to do escorting duty. He kicked up a fuss a couple times, then stopped coming in.

When I was single, I had a crush on a waitress at my favorite restaurant. I don't think she ever knew that I liked her. I didn't want her to think I was creepy like this guy. I got nervous just calling her by her name when she took my order.

Yah that was one we could but I don't care I am the type to ignore it and keep going my current call center I can ask 3 times and then disconnect but like I said I don't care I just let it blow over and they eventually hang up.

when i was in my last couple years of high school i met a guy, and being my normal cheerful self, i chatting with him, shot some hoops with him... apparently this guy was at the time feeling very depressed, and credits me with "saving his life" because i was nice to him when he was supposedly contemplating suicide. unfortunately for me, he then became obsessed. hung around me as much as possible, started going to my church, told my dad that "God told him we were meant to be together." when i was in high school it wasn't to the point of creepystalker... but he was very persistent.. as i got older he got worse.

my first real job, he would hang around almost all the time and take up my time. co workers noticed i was becoming more and more uncomfortable with him hanging around constantly...finally one of my co-workers, (one of the managers) an ex Army Ranger got in his face and told him he needed to quit interfering with me while at work. he got pissed off and knocked one of the sliding doors off it's track (was a big box hardware store, so it just popped right back on, but still....) he was banned from the store then and there. didn't see him in there again...

altho he was stupid enough to call me a few years later after i was married... from his own phone... and left an obscene message. derp. i called the cops on him that time. haven't seen hide nor hair of him since.

I don't lie, period. He'd simply have to hear the uncomfortable truth. From me. And maybe the Boys in Blue.

Why does it take corporate to decide this. Get a restraining order and then they're forced to keep him out of the store. And if they don't she could try the workplace harassment lawsuit method.
