I delivered pizzas for a few years, about 10 - 15 years ago. I still overtip to this day. A delivery driver should know better. And if you can't afford a decent tip, then don't eat out. Buy some bread and peanut butter and make a sandwich.
People forget that delivery drivers are human beings, and ignoring the morality of tipping or not tipping (take that argument to the appropriate forum, people!), the hard truth is that delivery drivers remember who tips well, and who doesn't. The ones that tip poorly are often the last to get their food on any particular run. The ones who tip well are remembered (and fought over, truth be told!), and are often given high priority by the driver.

I never tip less than 15%, and usually it's more like 20-25%. I've had drivers show up with my food only 20 minutes after I placed the order (and the restaurant I deal with usually quotes 35-45 minutes!). And if the driver is bringing me food in the snow or rain, I make sure it's worth their while.
