I think you did the right thing here... there's absolutely zero need to play Amateur Detective and investigate on your own. If you HAD seen something suspicious, you could have mentioned it to the cops when they showed up, but anything else is dangerous and/or counterproductive.

I mean, anybody can anonymously call a hotel and accuse somebody of something... it ain't enough for cops to get a warrant, and it certainly isn't enough for you to start snooping around on your own.
