He seems to think they're a joke.
Sounds to me like he's the joke here...

Here's another example: Goodhair was in for about half an hour today. He didn't actually do any work, but he chatted with a few of us. He was mostly there to drop off stuff from the board meeting this week. But he came in wearing a golf t-shirt, cargo shorts, and crocs over white socks. Even if he's not technically working today, that doesn't seem appropriate.

Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Maybe take a few photos to share with those who set the dress code.

The trick would be to get everyone to dress like Goodhair. When management complains, say "We are following the example of our senior members."

What am I missing here? What are crocs and why do people think them inappropriate?

OMG, I didn't realize those things were that expensive. I was expecting $20, tops, based on the crappy design, shoddy materials, and general tackiness.

Goodhair was wearing the "classic clog" yesterday, although I've seen him wear the "classic lined clog" in the past, too. Which means he owns at least two pairs of these things.

Oh mon Deux! How do you even walk in those things? They look quite uncomfortable and unsuited to wear anywhere but the beach.

Name-brand Crocs are surprisingly comfortable...I used to own a pair of black classic ones that I'd gotten on sale. They are hideous, don't get me wrong, but I wore them when I was managing a Subway and they were the only things that didn't leave my feet feeling ready to fall off by the end of my shift. The only reason I don't still have them is that Crocs and cats don't mix...especially cats that think Crocs are way better than their scratching post.

They are certainly not professional for any sort of office environment at all, with or without socks. I know that for a time, the Crocs clogs without the holes were often worn by nurses and support staff at many local hospitals due to how comfortable they are, and I knew several cooks who wore them too.

I'm actually considering getting another pair and keeping them far away from my cats. Nor will I wear them to work if I am on the clock or there in any sort of management capacity. They do actually stand up fairly well to regular wear and tear. The clog style do anyway. I'm not so sure about any of the other styles as I've never even thought of buying any of those ones.
