EArlier this year I worked at a computer store for a few months (was let got for being "not sales focussed enough", even though I was originally hired as a back-room techie).
Anyway, this store dealt in second hand computers... mostly ex-demo and end of lease but some that the boss picked up at auction. Sometimes we'd get really dodgy looking stuff which we'd sell dirt cheap with no support or warranty (I should add the warranty laws in my part of the world specify that all electrical and electronic equipment must have a 3 month warranty except in special cases, like these ultra-cheap pieces of crap).
Anyway, this guy wanted "the cheapest computer in the store", so the salesman showed him a $50 box, no monitor, no keyboard, no mouse, no warranty. The salesman made sure the customer understood the no warranty part That was fine because the customer only wanted something he could use to pull some data off a hard drive and was planning to mothball the machine when he was done.
Comes time to pay and he asks "Do you take American Express? If I use it, they'll double the warranty."
