  • Prayers and thoughts, please...thank you very much

I just got word that my great aunt died Saturday (8/18) morning. She was 91.

My mom had taken her in for a routine outpatient surgery to clear the vein used for dialysis; this was something that had been done about every six months since she started dialysis four years ago. The surgery was successful, but right after it was completed, her blood pressure plummeted and they were not able to not able to get it back up. She had a good week this week, and was alert and cheerful on the way to the hospital.

My great uncle, her husband of 70+ years, is doing OK, devastated when reminded of it, but, mercifully, forgets it after 5 minutes (Alzheimer's)--until the next time he remembers or someone tells him.

I'll be going back to my home town for the funeral. Prayers will be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

    You have my deepest sympathies.

I have heard that some assisted living facilities will only tell an Alzheimer patient of a loved ones passing only once. They won't force them to relive the grief by reminding them.

Please tell me this is the last tragedy for this forum for awhile.

Will give well wishes tonight when I go through my list.

Hugs, Karl. She lived through a HELL of a lot of changes in American History. Kitty bonks for you, and respect from me, for this lady.
