            • I actually switched over to the Private Server scene a long time ago. I got really tired of paying $15 a month, and I can never truly seem to completely escape any sort of PvP. (I'm too nice to PvP. ) Over the course of a year, I made my way to being a Developer of a Private Server. I'm making some pretty darn awesome stuff, actually. I've got three brand new instances going strong.

I'll paste something I typed up a while ago. There are places that you can only see if you can teleport around the world.
With the ability to warp around the game-world, I've taken a few Screenshots from in-game to show you.

              ------------------------------------------------

              1) There is a Smily Face underneath Karazhan Tower. Seriously. In the Lore, when they went in to kill Medivh because Sargeras had inhabited his body, we see that there is supposed to be an identical yet mirrored copy of Karazhan stretching under the ground beneath the tower. When we go inside to see where it is, we find only what? A smily face, mocking the lore-seeker. Heh.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...SmilyFace1.jpg
Here we are standing in front of the tower, just as proof that it's the real deal. Note the textures and their color.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...SmilyFace2.jpg
Here I am having warped *inside* of the tower. In this view are the same textures and the instance gate and those lovable Dalaran characters on the other side. I have but to turn around 180° aaaand:

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...SmilyFace3.jpg
Bingo. There is a smily face in the crater beneath Karazhan Tower. This is not a photoshop.

              ------------------------------------------------

              2) There are Farmlands in Eastern Arathi Highlands, behind the mountains. You can see them on the map. It's entirely unpopulated. The server owners put a few dogs and such in there for their own amusement.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...athiStrip1.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...athiStrip2.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...athiStrip3.jpg

              3) Hyjal Summit - Before and After - In the "Hyjal Summit" Raid, we see the Alliance, Horde, and Night Elf base camps, simulating the scenario from Warcraft 3. What they don't tell you is that right in the middle of the map of Kalimdor, all the way at the top, between Winterspring and Felwood and Ashenvale, lies the aftereffects of the raid. Nobody is allowed back there at all. There actually IS a gate into it, but it's blocked by an invisible barrier. Here's the barrier from the Hyjal side, and the next image is from the Darkwhisper Gorge (Winterspring) Side.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...eHyjalSide.gif

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pringSide2.jpg - Up Close.

The odd thing about Modern-day Hyjal is that there are no longer any modern buildings there. Everything that had at one point appeared modern (I.e. left over by the Scourge, Humans, Horde, or Night Elf.) is either a crater or debris, or a Night Elf RUIN! I kid you not - there are now Night Elf Ruins where the Human Encampment had been. Here are the screenshots of the camp before and after four years had passed.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CampBefore.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...eCampAfter.jpg

If you have ever gone out of the Alliance Camp to meet the waves of Scourge head-on, you'll have seen the Scourge Base Camp nestled into the northwest corner of Hyjal Summit. Here is the before and after image.

              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CampBefore.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...eCampAfter.jpg
You can almost see some Night Elf Ruins in the upper left corner where the gap in the mountains are.

Here's what happens to the Horde Camp before the Scourge arrive, .. and what it looks like four years later in Modern Hyjal.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CampBefore.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...eCampAfter.jpg
It's a crater. One massive crater surrounded by nothing but scorched earth, burnt trees, and debris.

Oddly, the Night Elf Encampment has been left untouched, more or less, except that there aren't any Night Elf buildings there at all. The only thing left is Archimonde's Skull up against a tree:
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ondesSkull.jpg
And some bizarre construction Saw-Horses on a road. The Archway and table and creatures were put in by external parties unrelated to Blizzard, and are normally not found in Hyjal.

              ------------------------------------------------

              4) Karazhan Crypt - Southwest of Karazhan's tower, more or less behind it, you'll find an odd place named "Morgan's Plot" with a ruined Cathedral and a Graveyard with a Crypt in it. Attempting to go inside the crypt yields an invisible wall blocking you from even approaching its portcullis.

Going inside, however, yields an astonishing new area, unseen by the likes of Retail WoW Players. The area is fully constructed, although entirely devoid of NPCs or creatures. The areas are named, doors are built, portcullises work, etc. It's just not an instance. It looks like one though. Some of the area names are as follows:

Tome of the Unrepentant - A large rectangular room with a shallow pool in the middle and a hollowed out rectangular space at the end of the room. I will indeed be placing a glowing book on a pedestal in this end.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...nrepentant.jpg

The Pit of Criminals - Another shallow pool with a very large pile of bones at one end. There is a ramp leading up to a small room, in the upper right, which has nothing of interest in it. (It's a closet.)
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...fCriminals.jpg

The Upside-Down Sinners - A room underwater in the middle of the crypt. Large meathooks hang from the ceiling. It has underwater and above-ground archways into other parts of the Crypt.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ownSinners.jpg

The Slough of Despair - A room beyond the Upside-Down Sinners room, above-ground, which contains nothing but a large sloped hole at the end of the room. Frankly, if there was a large hole in my room, I would be in despair as well.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...hOfDespair.jpg

Crypt - Pauper's Walk - A long series of tunnels lined with wall supports and bones that leads to other areas of the Crypt.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...aupersWalk.jpg

Crypt - A vaguely named series of mausoleums buried partially in dirt.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Mausoleums.jpg

Crypt - The entrance houses a small tetrahedronal tomb with a small bench before it, and on the other end of the room, a hole dropping down onto the pile of Bones in the Pit of Criminals.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...-FirstRoom.jpg

              ------------------------------------------------

              5) The Developers left an instance of the Scarlet Monastery "Beta" in the game, on Map#44. It has the same textures and everything, and all of the "rooms" are used, but they are in a different order. There are no outside areas. It's mostly Herod's area and the Armory, with Whitemane's area and the Inquisitor's place. No screenshots can actually convey the new layout. A screenshot of the minimap wouldn't yield anything interesting, and there is no main map of the area.

              ------------------------------------------------

              6) Tiny Bits of the Emerald Dream are in the game! Map 169 is a *HUGE* Map, quite possibly larger than any other map in the game, including Kalimdor and Azeroth and the Outlands. Sadly, "huge" does not mean "complete." Not in the slightest. It even states in the lore books that the Emerald Dream is made up of "layers," and the layer behind the immediate layer is made up of the Titan's "test grounds" - where entire sections of mountains have been peeled flat, like someone took a cookie cutter out of them.

Take a look for yourself. These are the only areas with anything at ALL interesting in them.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...m-Statues2.jpg
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...m-Statues1.jpg
You can see what the walls look like. Just untextured green hills. If it's not untextured green hills, or Mulgore grass, it's just a flat green floor.

The one area that is fairly interesting is the "Emerald Forest," which is the only named area in the region that we could find.
              http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...raldForest.jpg
The white orb there can be walked through, but nothing is inside. The area is composed of floating trees above more of the untextured green floor.

There is an area with bizarre floating flowers, similar to this, around 2:07 in this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5oHucJj90s - Though that should be more than enough to get you acquainted with the place.

Just thought it'd be interesting to post. A lot of these areas are on the WoWWiki.

No lectures please, I know it's not kosher and if I'd known that's what was gonna be done I wouldn't have followed, but by the time I realized it was too late. Won't be doing it again for any reason.

I'm not 100% sure myself at the moment, but I suspect that it may have something to do with spell-clipping through Karazhan's lower walls so you can go into the inside of the tower without being in the instance. When you're standing on the smily, (Refer to the screenshots.) You can get close to the instance portal and it'll take you inside anyway. The key is only to the portcullis, after all.

                        • Most of the time, it's like going to a free concert, or even a free cook-off. It's not even a concert. It's a very different experience, is all.

                          • Ran up around the back while mounted, fall thru a gap into the smiley area.

When they started around back and said follow me I originally thought they were just taking a silly longer route to the legit side door and had a friend there with the key, or saw someone was there opening it, so we could all hustle in and maybe reverse-clear. I know the upper hallway there connects by Opera, so I was expecting we'd run in the side door and go Opera, Maiden, Attumen then run back and get Curator onwards.

Hey Tech, my Guildportal account is being quirky...I'm trying to add characters and it wants to insist they're from AoC. Ideas? The stupid pulldown just resets every time I pick WoW (or EQ, I tried to set up one of my old EQ chars as a test too)
