My MIL is a softy

Yesterday, every time she saw a homeless person she gave them money and wished them a "Happy Thanksgiving, get yourself something to eat." Except for one guy she saw in the grocery store as she was picking up sodas. She thought he was recently out of the hospital. He was swaying and only had hospital socks on his feet. She handed him a $20 and told him to get some shoes, there's a shoe store 2 blocks away.

She does stuff like that.
