Being from the South US, I can say "Bless your heart" & mean "Go fuck yourself."

That kind of attitude isn't confined to any geographic location. I can say "Have a nice day!" and mean "I hope you die in a fire!" with absolutely no inflection to indicate my true meaning.

We've seen it in movies. "Demolition Man," when John Spartan meets Cocteau and pisses him off, Cocteau bids him farewell with a spiteful "Be well!"

And in the reimagined "Star Trek," after turning down his admission to the Vulcan Science Academy, Spock tells the council "Live long and prosper" with a tone that suggests he's giving them a rather different "salute" with his hand than the Vulcan salute.
