... Came up to the door yesterday, read the "no vacancy" sign, walked in and questioned the validity of it.
One guy actually said, "I can't read, and I am a [highest tier rewards member], do you really have no rooms availiable?
I can't count the amount of phone calls we had looking for a room, and when told we had none, then asked where they could go. We explained the only rooms avaliable in town are at a 5 star resort with a $250 price tag, and every single one of them whined they "won't pay that rate!!." I'm not sorry you can't find a cheap room on a holiday weekend. The whole town has been sold out for this weekend since May.
Had 1 lady who kept calling over and over hoping for a cancellation. When I spoke with her yesterday at 4:30 pm, she asked me if everyone had shown up for her room. I told her no, but I can not give away a room that's guarunteed with a credit card (our property does not oversell rooms.) She called again later, twice, and my coworker had to explain the same thing to her.
I think the only people I didn't want to strangle yesterday were the 2 flight attendants who thought they were booked with us, but were booked in a town 40 minutes away. Instead of freaking out at me, they laughed about it, and I helped them find a new room in town (the one with the $250 price tag). They didn't care where they stayed; their company was paying for their room. One of them even said "oh theres no reason to panic and get upset, these things happen." Why, why can't more people be like that??
Today I am hoping people start realizing they are NOT getting a room in town without advanced reservations. Lol, pipe dreams.
