I work third shift in the repair department of a call center. Not all of our call centers are 24/7, including our billing department(they're 6a-3a). For some awesome reason understandable only by those in management, our billing systems automatically suspends delinquent customers' dig boxes at 4:45am. Yep, right in the middle of billing being closed. The billing department has certain functions that we don't, such as the ability to take certain types of payments and process promise-to-pays. Every morning we deal with an hour of nasty, angry SCs calling in and whining that their box was cut off and they have to wait an entire hour to get another extension on their bill.
This morning I had a cust who wanted to get an extension on her bill and was outraged (more than normal) that she had to wait. She ranted and raved about how we are supposed to have 24/7 customer service, how dare we lie, why can't we turn her service on right now, etc, etc, etc. I finally told her our 24/7 cust service is for customers who actually pay their bills and she hung up on me.
I seriously hate these people who think they're entitled to service without paying for it and whine and scream at us for working for a company that thinks otherwise.
