  • No, that is NOT helpful!

I just don't get the logic behind this one. Okay, while cashing out chips in a casino, DO NOT take the tall pile that you have that is already nice and neat and flick it across my damn counter!!! I don't understand WHY people do this!

One guy had four red chips, he flung them across my counter so they were all flat and spread out in a way that is unacceptable for us to count for the cameras. Futhermore, we are not allowed to just pay them like that. We have to touch the chips ourselves and set them up a certain way.

    SC: See, I was helping.

Me: Sir, I have to touch the chips anyway.

WHY fling them all over?? Where did this concept come from? I'm waiting for the day where one of then flings a black chip (worth $100) and it will fall down some crack and disappear and we'll get blamed.

Usually, when there are a lot, I'll take my time re-stacking them back up. Maybe they'll get the point. It is hard to pick them up when they are flat on the counter. You have to arch your hand a certain way and dig your fingers underneath. It makes the process slower. And your hand does get tired.

I over heard one guy tell his friend that he mixes the colors up so he can just watch the cashier try and separate them. Another guys said that he likes to count with the cashier and purposely try to mess them up.

So, if any of you cash out chips or go to a casino, don't do the following: Fling your chips all over, count with us, do not reach in and try to grab at the money we are counting or even enter our area, think its just so funny to ask if you can get six twenties for a hundred dollar bill, yes we have heard all the jokes and they are never funny.

Sorry but I am a little ranty.

Or these people have a huge stack and lie them on their side!! Leave them upright! And no we cannot take your change in our hand. Don't hold your hand out, we will avoid your hand and put your money right next to it. That one I get because everywhere else you go people stick the money in your hand but not here, we need the cameras to see everything.

I'll keep that in mind when I go to Vegas next month otherwise I'd be sticking out a hand for things.

Thank you for the reminder!! The geek and I go to Las Vegas at the end of July.

I try not to grab the money until they have removed their hands from the counter. By the way is that correct to do?

Ah Vegas (or any gambling city or establishment for that matter) the one place in the world you can lose money and have fun doing so.

I feel for you, my sister used to work at the Grand Victoria casino in southern Indiana. She doesn't have any really good stories, but she has voiced similar complaints and rants before.

Further proof that with "adult" age does not come maturity. Why, in dog's name, if you are waiting for money to be exchanged, would you purposely try to screw up the person counting it? Then if you end up getting the wrong amount, you have only yourself to blame, but you will still get pissed and yell at the cashier.

My brother worked there to I believe. As long as she doesn't know a Jeff with TONS of piercings she's good.

Yes, but you get to feel all smug and self important. You yelled at a "stupid cashier". You (maybe) made someone cry. Ha ha you. You are king.

My sister works as a cashier in a casino, somewhere in Auvergne. I can't remember the name of the place - it looks like most spa towns around here have a casino on site or near-by. Elderly people seems to love gambling.

I would remind people who enter the cashier area of the cage that if they do that again they'll be removed by security.
And to the people who make jokes about trying to confuse the cashier when they're counting, remind them that knowingly attempting to defraud a business is very much against the law and very much not seen as an adorable joke.
Then give them the death glare followed by the blink and stare.

Some will get it, some won't. But for the ones who won't take solace in knowing they're the sort who will likely end up getting dragged out by security because of one stupid move or another.
