Hello Kids,
We had a special snowflake come into the ER yesterday. Her child was a patient, admitted to the psych floor voluntarily. He had called his mother to let her know where he was but asked her to not come down to see him .
So, she proceeds to drive almost 4 hours to get to the hospital. Ending up at the front desk later Friday evening.
She runs up to the desk and asks about her son. The clerk checks where he is, sees hes on the psych floor and asks her to take a seat.
Clerk then calls psych floor. Son makes it very clear that he doesn't want any information released to his mother. Also doesn't want to see her.
Mother is relayed this information. As imagined, it didnt go over very well.
"I NEED TO SEE MY SON! I HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON!!!! BLAH!!"
She rants for another minute while clerk is trying to cut in to explain.
Security eventually makes their way over and try to explain. to her. They couldnt get through. Imagine that. Ill mention here that her son was over 30 years old. Not exactly a kid who cant fend for himself.
When security points this out she keeps going. My friend, J the security then makes an astounding point. "Ma,am he has a right to not have visitors if he doesnt want them. And he told us that right now, he doesn't want to see anyone, including you".
This gets her to quiet down a bit. "Fine" she says, "Then im going to sit in this waiting room until he lets me up to see him."
J shakes his head. "No you're not. This waiting room is private property and only allowed to be used by our patients and their visitors".
She didn't like that too much. "Fine!!!!! THEN TAKE ME TO SEE A DOCTOR BECAUSE I HAVE CHEST PAIN!!" as she starts beating her chest.
So, she gets signed in and has the worlds fastest chest pain work up ever. She is then escorted from the property.
Im not sure if she thought that bc she was his mom we could and should break federal law for her and violate her sons privacy. Not happpening, lady.
