Hey, Food Lady, I bought a TV last week, but it's broken and I want to return it. Could you give me a refund if I bring in the broken tv next week?
Can I buy it off you? That thing is an awesome vintage specimen!

Definitely a scam. A woman tried something similar in the supermarket; she bought a TV and claimed that a colleague had run into her in the car park and made her drop the TV, so she wanted a free replacement. She said she had the TV in its box but she'd lost the receipt.

When CCTV was checked, no such thing happened; she just loaded it into the car and drove off. Also, the TV she brought in was an old model with an inbuilt video player that isn't even sold any more. Basically, she just wanted a free TV. But what she got, was nothing.
