Yeah Matt Sparrow is awesome. I've actually thought about sending him one of my tops to quilt. My son loves to watch him quilt on his UStream channel.

I also remember reading an article a while back about some long haul truckers who keep sewing machines and irons in thier sleeper cabs and make quilt tops while they travel.

      Really cool stuff.

Wow, I've never heard of him. This is awesome. I know nothing at all about quilting, but his designs look epic.

Fascinating - I've always wanted to try my hand at quilting.

See that's one of the awesome things about quilting - anyone can do it.

And you don't have to follow the patterns exactly - lord knows I never do!

I love when men (and boys) get into arts and crafts like that. My mom's cousin did a lot of quilting and counted cross stitch. One of her sons was really interested in cross-stitch so she taught him how. He did several projects as a tween and won prizes in the fair all the time. One of his pieces accidentally got entered into the adult section instead of the kids' and he won first place!

For a second I thought it was going to be a link to the guy that made a quilt of women's underwear. Which, granted, looked like it was a lot of work!

Yeah I have an inkling feeling that my son has the quilting bug.

He's always glued to my side at the sewing machine. He's even sat on my lap and helped me feed the fabric through the machine.

Also he's addicted to fat quarters.

I can see why 'many former engineers' would be attracted to quilting. Also, omg, Kanalah, that's the cutest image in my head! You need a pic or something to show! He's like what, 8? ... iirc?

One of my friends brother does cross stitch, he copies famous paintings *without* a pattern. Just blows me away. She has a framed one he did of Gainsborough's "Blue Boy" that I absolutely love.

                        Teh, he's 3

And he already knows the names of sewing machine parts and different types of fabrics.

No clue where he gets it from.
