So, today the Shuttle Endeavor, atop the back of a jet, made a tour of California.
Starting at Edwards, it did fly-bys of locations in Sacramento, San Francisco/San Jose, down the coast, to then take about an hour to fly around over the greater Los Angeles area before landing at LAX just before 1pm today.
Since I work in Compton, I knew there had to be some half-way decent view of it as it made it's way from downtown Los Angeles (Hollywood, the Science Center, The Coliseum, etc) to Disneyland, or when it made it's way from Long Beach (the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Queen Mary) back to Los Angeles (the Science Center again and others), with the best view being it's trip east from Los Angeles, roughly following the path of the 91 freeway, past the 710 before banking north to come around for it's final approach into LAX, it's path taking along just north of the 105.
There are some amazing shots from people up and down the state. I got some long-distance shots (only 2x digital zoom on my phone >_<). The company shutterbug got a nice shot. Both of those were shared via Twitter and Facebook. The Bosslady got a very nice shot with her iPhone from the ground as it came into view between buildings. Her son got up early to get a shot of it passing over the Golden Gate Bridge. Others got shots of it as it passed popular landmarks, their workplaces, their homes, or whatever landmark they chose to be near when it made it's pass.
So, am I the only one here who spent an hour on a hot roof so I could geek out over Endeavor's farewell tour?
^-.-^
p.s. more pics will be forthcoming after I get home...
