So some may recall the family from this thread. (Which everything turned out okay, my friend has no charges against him, all is good on the legal side of things.)
Well here I am again involved in something I'd rather not be. Now in the previous thread I mentioned how the mom in this family is pretty much batshit crazy and my friend has had me come down so she'll stop screaming at him for five seconds.
So we have some friends of ours visiting from Michigan and we thought we'd show them this really good barbecue place nearby (You can't leave Texas without having some good barbecue!), when we see the youngest boy sitting at the edge of the street crying, not only that, it's raining pretty bad.
Oh boy, here we go.
I tell mom to go ahead and let me out of the car and that I'd meet her at the BBQ place. Talking one on one with the boy (We'll call him Carson) I learned that his mom is showing someone a house (she works in Real Estate) and that her client decided it'd be a good idea to leave his kid there. Well, from what I was told, fighting ensued, and Carson was thrown onto a couch and he was held there, face down, suffocating. He also got a punch to the stomach that left a good sized red mark, about the size of a fist.
So here I'm thinking I might be dealing with some teenager by this point. Carson isn't small. He's 11 going on 12. So for someone to be able to pick him up and throw him is a feat. Either way, I'm not standing for it, Carson and his siblings are all like family to me, and I've know Carson himself since he was a baby.
I walk down to the house with him and there the kid is, no more than 12 or 13 sitting and watching Youtube videos. He turns, sees me (I'm already flashing the dagger eyes I've inherited from my mom, they're pretty nasty when I'm talking one on one with someone) and he goes white.
Me: "Do you know why I'm here?"
Boy: "I didn't mean to hit him, he fell on the couch and my arm fell on top of him!!!"
Yeah, right off the bat, he starts lying to me.
Me: "......... You're kidding right? You'll need to think of something a little better than that."
Basically I filled him in on what Carson told me, that he was punched, thrown on the couch and suffocated. Then I get this gem.
Boy: "But he was going to hurt his little sister! She told me to do it!"
The kicker? Said sister is 3 FREAKING YEARS OLD!
Me: "So you decided it'd be a good idea to listen to a toddler?"
Boy: "But..."
Me: "No, you listen, I don't really care what happened, all I know is things got violent and there are clearly no responsible adults in the house right now to deal with it. Now, I was going out for dinner when I saw Carson on the street in the rain....
Boy: "But I kept telling him I was sorry and to come back in!!!
Me: "Doesn't matter, you still hit him and did things that you shouldn't of. Now as I was saying before I was interrupted, I'm hungry and I can think many things I'd rather do than play referee for something that shouldn't have gotten out of hand in the first place. Now, if I have to come down again, it's not going to be pretty, so please, just stay away from each other.
With that, I left. And who do I see in the garage, two of the family members (not much younger than my 18 year old self), one of whom was even on her iPad in the same room when it happened and did absolutely nothing to stop it.
When I was out of the house, I saw my mom didn't leave me and patiently waited for me to finish talking with them so I didn't have to drive myself to meet them. (Have I ever mentioned she's awesome? I've tried to model myself after her) We left for the restaurant.
I'm really sick of playing referee for this family, this isn't the first time something stupid has happened while the mom leaves her kids unattended.
In other news, the BBQ was delicious.
