So, today is the beginning of our Super Duper Uber Mega Super Stupendous Lowest Prices of the Season sale. And we have to fill and backstock a truck.
Yep. The DC couldn't send it out Monday or even Tuesday because that would've made too much sense and been too easy on us. It had to come yesterday.
And at least 75% of the stuff on it is for my side of the store. Very little apparel. The DC is pushing out all our late-set Christmas stuff: dishes, textiles, candy, gifts, boxes, cards, gift wrap, etc. All of which has to be put away because we have no place to just let it sit.
And we have to help set the ad this morning. In exchange for this, the specialists coming in to work at 4(!) with us are to help us on the truck. They will not do this. Housewares specialist, who is as useless as all get out, will just hole up in the back and poke along on her ad, and we'll all end up having to help her. Plus, she has one more endcap to set, and she's trying to pull all the other specialists away to help her set it.
New girl is on the schedule this morning, so that's 8 hours shot to hell. She is genuinely hurt, and she's no longer on our team. She's being exiled to the salesfloor....
....which isn't such a great thing because if salesfloor coverage is lacking, people get pulled away from my crew to help out. It's happened the last two trucks; once when new manager inadvertently scheduled a newbie to be alone on the salesfloor one night, and again last night when said newbie quit via a phone call. We did get quite a bit of filling done, but I still suspect we'll be staying late today. I'll be happy if our extra time amounts to half an hour or less.
On the plus side, somebody new has been hired for truck crew, and management has higher hopes for this person. They cannot start soon enough.
