  • So for years l had the words wrong...

Many years of listening to Rod Stewart's You Wear lt Well and l finally saw the lyrics. They were not quite what l heard but l think my version was better 😇

    In my brain they were:
'I have nothing to do on this hot afternoon but to settle down and watch your lines..
I've been meaning to pull you since the minute l saw you but girl it's been a long long time'

I misheard the lyrics to Cold's Suffocate:

    Real:
    "I don't lie. You're Fake."

    Misheard:
    "I don't like your face."
This site proves Corey Taylor right. Man really is a "four letter word."

I'm now using my Deviant Art page to post my humor.

Collectively such misheard lyrics are called "mondegreens".

The trope namer was a seventeenth-century ballad, "The Bonnie Earl o' Moray":
      Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
      Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl o' Moray,
And Lady Mondegreen. ("And laid him on the green")

I've had that happen. One time, I misheard the lyrics, and couldn't find the song for decades...
