  • How Many trips does it take to fix a PA system?

    Six trips.

Sometime late July or early August we noticed that the voice pages were too soft. We report the problem. A few days later a Tech comes out...

Trip 1: Tech arrives late at night, does something, has MOD sign paperwork leaves. Nest morning first Auto-Attendant page supposed to be "dept telephone call on XXX," comes out so freaking loud that it is distorted an inaudible, you can see speaker vibrate. Background music barley audible.

Trip 2: Tech Arrives, makes changes, now background music sort of audible, pages too soft can barely hear them.

Trip 3: Tech Arrives, makes changes, background music are correct level, pages still too soft.

Trip 4: Music and pages are correct, but now no bass, all treb. Store Muzak with no bass. My ears!!!! determines problem with system, must get parts.

Trip 5: Replaces parts, finally music is audible at propel level, pages are louder than music. But... half of the sales floor speakers are not working.

Trip 6: Tech form PA Mfgr arrives along with idiot tech, PA Tech Talks with GM, walks store. Notices the Front End, Produce and parts of back room and a few other paces have broken speakers or incorrectly placed/adjusted speakers of just need a few more to ensure music and Pages heard.

Goes to truck and gets speakers and tools to install. PA tech installs speakers wile other tech runs wire. Connects all speakers to PA system and walks store. Makes adjustments. Repeats until proper levels are set in the entire store. Leaves.

Total cost for Trip 6(parts and labor) was less then the previous 5 combined.
