  • Blockheaded Barney's Bar Room Bet

Blockheaded Barney was on vacation in Wisconsin Dells when he stopped into a bar to wet his whistle one night.

The man on the stool next to Barney, an American Indian, turned to him and said, "Hey mister, why don't we play a game? I'll ask you a riddle, and if you can answer it correctly I'll buy you your next beer. If you can't answer it, then you have to buy me a beer."

"Sounds good to me!" Barney said. "What's the riddle?"

"My parents had a child. It was not my brother. It was not my sister. Who was it?"

Barney puzzled over this for a minute. "I don't know. I give up."

"It was me!" the indian said. So Barney paid for the next round of beers.

A few weeks later, after Barney had returned home from vacation, he was at the neighborhood bar with his friend. He turned to his friend and said, "Hey, let's play a game. I'll ask you a riddle and if you can answer it correctly, I'll buy you your next beer. But if you can't answer it, you have to buy me a beer."

"Okay," the friend said. "What's the riddle."

"My parents had a child. It was not my brother. It was not my sister. Who was it?"

The friend thought for a minute. "I give up. Who was the child?"

Barney replied, "It was some Indian guy up in Wisconsin Dells!"
