When I was a kid, I borrowed from the library an audio tape of (I think) 5 short stories read by the female author. I am desperately trying to remember either:
1) the name of the author
2) the titles of the stories
I only remember a vague description of 2 of the stories.
1) An evil (alien?) cloud follows a woman and daughter while they are out and about (shopping I think), and eventually attacks them eating (I think) the daughter.
2) A bunch of vegetarian farm animals (led by the dog who acts as sheriff) investigate a murder (or series of murders) that has taken place among the animals. When the human owners are found to be guilty of it, the punishment is enough to cause them to sell produce instead, however the very end has the produce itself considering a revolt.
