Im glad to be able to come with some lighter stories than the last few I had.
This was a collection of tales that have happened in the past but for some reason I heard all of them yesterday.
Original Story #1 was removed as I want to make it its own thread due to interesting developments.
Heres a new #1 from last night.
#1
I first encounter this "gentleman" on his way out. He's yelling and screaming at security and theyre walking behind him, telling him he needs to leave. And hes walking out, just screaming the whole way. No biggie, it happens.
About 30 minutes later, he comes back. I initially didnt remember him but I had stepped away from the triage area and when I walked back he was "speaking" to the other triage nurse in a very aggressive manner. If It had been someone else up htere, Id have stepped in. But this nurse would have no problem handling him, so I let her keep talking to him.
He came back in to demand a taxi voucher. "I know you give them out, stop fucking around". Nurse is sitting there calmly, listening to him and trying to explain under what circumstances taxi vouchers are given. He wasnt listening, of course. But he did not qualify for a voucher. It was about this time that I realize that was the guy that was walking out screaming, escorted out by security.
I walk back to the area where he was treated and describe his clothing to the staff back there. They start to laugh, MD pipes up "He is ABDSOLUTELY NOT getting a voucher." They explained to me why. Apparently he came to ER to get all of his narcotic prescriptions refilled (We dont do that) and he got upset when he was told he wasnt eligible for that and he needed a famly doctor to do that. I tell them he's out there harassing K at the desk (K was not alone, btw..I wouldnt do that to her). I place a call to K at the desk, explain what I was just told and let her know security is on their way again, since one of the other nurses was calling. I make it out to the front desk just in time to catch the fireworks.
Guy sees security, freaks, starts screaming and trying to fight. Needless to say, he still ended up outside and banned from coming back in unless he was dying.

Gentleman enters in by ambulance, followed by about 5 police officers. He's laughing and having a grand old time. MD enters and asks him what happened. heres what did:
Guy was smoking some illegal substances and drinking some alcohol (he's not yet 21) and decided to go steal a car. He's driving around and is noticed by the cops and they engage in a high speed chase. Guy crashes car and runs away. He ends up in a parking lot and notices some school buses. he decides "Hey, let's steal a school bus."
Goes up to the first bus and tries to break in....alarm goes off (Side note: I didnt know school buses had alarms. Lol.) Goes up to the second bus, no alarm and he is able to get in. Meanwhile, the cops notice the alarm on the first school bus and are coming his way. He gets the school bus started and goes, rams a fence down and is in high speed chase #2.
Guy tells the MD while he's being evaluated in the ER that his goal in the school bus was to "run into something cool that would make the paper."
So Guy is trying to drive to the mall (forgot to add this was 0200 so the mall was closed) but he cant get off the highway to make it over there b/c the cops are too close. So, he keeps driving, thinking he might be able to make it into the middle of the city and hit a status or something.
Guy ends up crashing into a random building (So uncool, btw ) and being tased (sp?) when the cops finally get into the bus.
MD pulls several taser barbs out of his back. When he was medically cleared, he went on his merry way to jail.

Visitor comes up to the front registration desk and asks after her uncle. Registration clerk lets her know that her uncle is there, but he has 2 visitors at his side already and we have a 2 visitor per patient policy. Clerk tells her she can let the visitors know there's someone else here and see if they'll switch out so she can go back.
Well this wasnt acceptable to her. She starts screaming "THATS MY UNCLE! WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR UNCLE? I NEED TO BE BACK THERE, THATS BULLSHIT!!" Clerk tries to calmly speak to ther again and she starts screaming "YOU CANT STOP ME!!" and motions in the direction of the door to the back. Its generally locked, but opens when people are exiting.....people happened to be leaving at that exact moment (of course) and she makes a break for the door.
Now the clerk, cant stop her....but security can. And because she made such an ass out of her self and the security desk is just across from Registration, she was dragged from the back and placed outside....and restricted from setting foot on property.
*we make exceptions all the time to the 2 visitor policy and maybe if she would have been nice, she could have been one of them.

One legged, drunk man attempt to beat up security. Guess who lost? (Security didnt beat him up, but he was forcefully restrained until he calmed down.)
I wanted to add a note. I see things bordering on the bizarre, cruel, amusing, heart warming etc. I know that some of these stories represent people that arent generally quite right and need, in most cases, help for something or another. Unfortunately, the nature of the job is that if I dont laugh when I can I will end up insane. So, please dont be offended at my humor.
