Default I don't have my receipt but your employee didn't give me my shoes

Just received a call on one of my rare days off.

Customer says that she bought several pairs of shoes yesterday, but my employee did not put one pair of them in her bag. She also claims employee did not give her a receipt.

I tell employee(2) that called to ask me what to do to check what our inventory says. It says we have 2 in stock, we actually have 2 in stock. I tell her to tell the customer no receipt, no proof, no shoes.

I also told her to call our district manager to ask his advice, because I can already tell this is going to go south fast...

Sad thing is, even if they had the receipt only have their word they didn't get the shoes. Of course..they would get the shoes..because stores have to take their word on it..but that doesn't mean anything really...

At least you have a way to check inventory in situations like this. We just had to take their word for it.

Well, my boss didn't want a call to our corporate office. So he had my employee do a paid out for the amount of the shoes, put the money on a gift card, and then "sold" the shoes using the gift card. *sigh*

Yeah, you got scammed. I had something like that happened last week. I knew she was a scammer, and didn't give her anything, well, besides a free coffee that was about to be thrown out.

Oh, she still hasn't brought in her receipt out of the trash.
