    Yep, the state tends to take safety issues at nursing homes very seriously. Never mind that when a resident *does* get out (at least here), it makes the local news, usually with the name of the home being mentioned. Even one of those stories could be enough to damage a home's reputation. That's why many of them have alarms and code-operated entry doors to protect the residents.

    As someone whose grandmother tried to get out *multiple* times, I'm thankful for it. Her mind had gone enough, that she would forget where she was, and would attempt to "go home." That is, go back to her farm...which was about 50 miles away She could have easily escaped, and injured herself...or worse. She wasn't familiar with the area at all. I don't even want *think* about what might have happened
