Understandable, but that is what they're called, meaning they're more complex than children's coloring books. (The kind you were thinking of probably do exist, but not at my store!)
When I first got asked for these I also thought I was being asked for porn. And I remember when I posted about it people told me they do exist, which isn't surprising. I don't think they'd calm me, because I'd be so OCD about not coloring outside the lines. Really, it makes me tense just thinking about all those tiny little shapes... I have only wanted to buy one. It had black backgrounds instead of white, and thicker lines, so if you weren't coloring perfect, you probably wouldn't notice.

Single player Minecraft is pretty calming for me. I don't usually play a world repeatedly, just make a new one each time. Knitting. I'm literally just knitting a square right now. I started it to practice knitting English style (I first learned Continental) but now I think I will try to make this bunny. I'm happy people are finding the coloring books calming, though some people take it far to seriously.

When I hear adult coloring books, I think of pictures of people making a budget, doing chores and paying bills.

      Dang I'm boring.

Wait...coloring books for ADULTS are a thing?!
Oh yeah, I've got 6. That reminds me, I should use them tomorrow, I've got a day off. Every time I use them I remember how much I like them... then I forget them for weeks at a time, lol

I picked up an adult dot to dot magazine here the other week, so neat! Also have quite a few adult colouring books too. Saw an article the other day saying that Faber Castel are having to work extra shifts to cover demand for colouring pencils.

I had trouble understanding this at first, because I figured adult coloring books must be, you know, adult coloring books.
I would love some adult coloring books with half-naked, super hot anime characters... actually, make that fully naked.

            What?

Only place I could see this being used would be to re-dye vinyl upholstery in a car.
That's what I was thinking of too. While not used often, it comes in handy when you have to repair things like seats and door panels...and they don't match. You know, you have a black interior, and the only seat cover you can find is a beige one. Been there, done that.

Oh, yes. Some of them are quite complex and sophisticated.

Oh yeah, I have a couple of them, filled with complex geometrical designs to color in. And I have a large selection of colored pencils and a pencil sharpener to go with it. It's really fun, but I have to limit my coloring time because it hurts my hands, but I find it relaxing.

Reasonably certain they actually make these.

They're HUGE over here.Every Waterstone's or Smith's has a stand of them.Harry Potter,Game of Thrones,Zen scenes,'calm restful meditation'.They're supposed to relieve stress.Perhaps by using the pencil to poke the SC repeatedly until they go away.

                                Yes.
                                I have two, myself.
I want to get more, but they are expensive.
Some libraries even have Coloring Clubs for older people to get out, socialize, and ward off loneliness and symptoms of old age. It's quite therapeutic.

I keep a few coloring books on my kitchen table for after-dinner de-stressing myself.
