Anyone know of any sites where you can download free movies legally and won't harm the computer? I tried googling it, went to a couple sites, and my computer mentioned that the sites I tried were dangerous.

Kinda. it's not really legal but ... no one's going to bust down your door for it either.
Many public libraries have DVDs as well as books. Borrow a title and rip it to the computer. Bout as free as you can get.
as for online downloading... full length movies, prolly not going to find them for free. there are some pay sites that let you download whatever they have for a monthly rate, but yeah that's still not free.
i hate to say it but the easiest thing to do, if you don't want to get hit by the law.... itunes. you can rent or buy, tho both options have drawbacks. rentals only last so long, and purchase price isn't that hot.
only other option i can think of is a low-cost version of the library one... rent the movies from the local rental place and copy them. not legal but... eh, hard to track.

The iTunes Store is a good low-cost alternative if you are looking for newer movies."It's not easy being evil in a world that's gone to Hell" ~ Anton LaVey

For a legit site, you can watch streaming movies and TV shows here:

No actual downloading, but the quality is pretty good for a streamed show.
