Every year people over use and abuse the machines to make their last minute cards and photos and every year they break. They are old, they are tired and they really need to be overhauled 4 times a year one time falls squarely in the christmas season so it gets put off. Today the machine crashed and I was trying to find the cause of the problem before the processor cooled too much making the sensors force the machine offline for the rest of the night and the phone rings.
SC: Hi I just ordered one hour cards, I want you to make me a few more 5x7's thanks.
Ok not an unreasonable request, other than I am the only one here, the processor is breaking and there is a big sign on the machines that says ONCE YOU ORDER IS FINALIZED WE CANNOT ADD OR SUBTRACT ITEMS. Just a hint, I won't add to your order because later you can claim I did it without your authorization and try and demand it all for free.
I tell her this and she huff that the other girls said she would do it for her. (What other girl? only person working here tonight)
I also tell her that order maybe late due to the processor problem, which is caused partly by her order and another small card order jamming in the machine.
SC: But I NEEED to mail my christmas cards Tonight (said in the whiniest voice possible)
I tell here I am trying to resolve the issues and that if her order comes out I will call her. That it is unlikely the issue would be resolved tonight.
She slams the phone in my ear and I start calling the other 20 people who left orders the whole time getting people their finished orders from earlier and trying to fix the machine.
Hour later still no luck on the machine so I call it in to our technical group and await my call back. The woman who called demanding her card order, in the store trying to pick them up. I explain they are not done, I had told her I would call her if they were done and that they now DEFINITELY would not be done tonight because that is how bad the problem is.
She screams, "You just ruined my christmas!" as she stormed away.
Well if I hadn't the post office certainly would have... or someone else...
Glad to help
I wonder if she would like the chemical burn i got on my arm trying to fix the damn thing for christmas, I wonder how you would box that...
