So this was just mildly annoying.
First, some explanation. We do sandwich trays. The way we do them is you tell us how many sandwiches you want, we put them on as many trays as that requires. The price is just the price of the sandwiches, no extra charge for it being on a tray. Some people find this hard to understand. Enter SG (sandwich guy).
SG: Hi.
Me: Hi, what can I do for you?
SG: Um...a few days ago a friend of mine got a round thing of sandwich (makes circular hand motions) and I need that.
Me: ....a...sandwich tray?
SG: Yeah I guess. How much is that? For the round one?
Me: (Explains above and points to the list of sandwich prices)
SG: But, it was on this round metal thing...
Me: I understand (repeats explanation in slightly different words)
SG: But...how much does it cost?
Me:
(Trying a new path) How many people are you trying to feed?
SG: (mumbles what sounds like "78")
Me: 78?
SG: No! 7 or 8.
Me: And are you only serving sandwiches, or is this part of a larger spread of choices?
SG: There's lots of other stuff.
Me: Ok, then I recommend either 1 1/2 or 2 full loaf sandwiches cut into 1/8ths.
SG: So...how much is that going to cost?
Me: Well that depends on which kind of sandwich you want.
(We spend several minutes choosing a sandwich)
Me: So you want 2 (certain sandwich)?
SG: How much is that?
Me: Well each one is $7.78.
SG: ....So...how much is that?
Me: (does quick mental math) around 15 and a half dollars.
SG: Ok. So $15?
Me: No, around 15 and a half.
SG: Huh?
Me: (Gets a calculator) It's $15.56.
SG: Oh. So I can get that for today?
Me: Oh! Well actually we need 24 hours' notice for party trays.
SG: But I need it today.
Me: ....
SG: ....
Me: ....
SG: Pleeeeeeeease? I'm in a lot of shit if I don't have this.
Me: Well what time do you need it by?
SG: Um, I have to be at (building down the street) by 7...
Me: So if it was ready by 6:30, that would be ok?
SG: Um...6? Can I have it at 6?
Me: (heavy sigh) Ok fine.
He didn't show up until 6:45. Douche.
