  • I bought her a cake, but ate her pizza

About a month ago a cw, call her "x", finally got out of library hell. She got a new job, and gave only one weeks notice. I was talking to her on a Thur. and she said she was working Sat. but management wasn't giving her a day off during the week for working Sat. Her last day was the next Thur. Also, no one was going to give her a party. I thought that would suck. Another cw told me she was going to take x out for lunch on x's last day.

So Thur. I was talking to other cw and saying that someone should throw her a party. Fri., I send an email to her boss, and my boss, saying I wanted to bring a cake for her. No reply from her manager Fri., Sat., Mon. or Tue.. My manager does reply to me that I should wait to see what x's manager would do.

Tue. I work the late shift, and I can bring in my car for working the late shift, so I decide to buy a cake for x.

I go to the local Kroger, and usually they have cakes on special when it's their expiration cake. One cake (whole sheet? Half sheet?) was marked down from 23.99 to 10.99. The label said "white" and the frosting was chocolate (with flowers). So I get another cake, which is chocolate, with is 1/4 sheet, but has some type of filling, which was $16.99 now $9.99. I have the bakery person write "Congrats, X" on the big cake. I didn't want to put "congrats on the new job" since management might be pissed.

I take it to work Tue. I understand she won't be off at all the week. She is off. tue. Eh, I'll keep the cakes in the fridges at work. Then x's manager bothers to tell me that they were going to have a party for x on Fri. I said I thought her last day was Thur., but that boss tells me it will be fri. Why couldn't she have sent me an email? I probably wouldn't have bought the cakes then, since x was saying there was no party for her.

So Wed. X was at work. I asked her early morning if it was ok we put out a treat I bought for her for her last day. She said wait for lunch (noon). She does thank me, even though she doesn't know what I brought. So lunch comes around but x doesn't show up. Everyone wants cake. So we figured she would show up at the end of lunch, but she doesn't. So I go to my lunch (at 1pm), then decide after I ate to find x at the desk she is manning and replace her. She said no one should wait for her, that someone else should cut the cake but I said that everyone really wants her to cut the cake. So she goes and cuts the cakes.

I know she thanked me once, but it was before I gave her the cake. The rest of Tue. and most of Wed. she sees me but doesn't thank me or say anything about the cakes. She finally tells me the cakes were awesome.

Wed. I'm sitting with her and 3 other people. They ordered 4 pizzas, and the pizza guy just called x to tell her they didn't have Pepsi. I'm ticked that no one offered me pizza, even though I brought 2 cakes the day before. Yes, I'm petty.

So Thur. I see one box of pizza. I decide to take a piece. No, I didn't ask permission, I'm just ticked that I wasn't offered pizza. Fri. and Sat. pass and only one other piece is eaten.

I'm a heel, but since I didn't ask for the pizza. But again, everyone thanked me for the cakes I brought but then ignore me when it came to the pizza.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.
