especially since we can check it so easily?
Note: prices around here are measured in cents (well, dollars now) per liter. Last week's high price for regular unleaded was $1.62. Note also we have regular unleaded, ethanol (2-4 cents cheaper than regular) and premium (8-9 cents more expensive than unleaded).
SC: "Your sign says $1.43 but the pump says $1.60!"
my co-worker: "Really? Which sign said that? Which pump are you using?"
SC: "They all say the wrong price! You have to give me a discount."
co-worker: "But which sign is wrong? The one I can see from here is right."
SC: "The big sign says $1.43 and the pump says $1.60."
co-worker: (starts to explain the difference between the different grades of fuel and why they're different prices, occasionally being interrupted by SC saying "it's the wrong price!" or "The pump says $1.60!")
So I went and checked. All signs were correct (ethanol $1.49, regular $1.53, premium $1.59). When I got back into the store:
SC: (shit-eating grin) "Well it was worth a try!"
OK by law we have to compensate any customers who get charged a higher price than what the sign says. But why would you lie about what the sign said when it's so easy for us to check?
(answer: Because you're an idiot who thinks other people are dumber than you)
