    Couple of things gleaned from Ayoob's column in BHM:

    1. Find out what shell length the 12 gauge is designed for. It's OK to use shorter shells, but NOT longer.

    2. When you're at the field or range, don't have ANY 20 gauge ammunition in your possession.

    3. For the Winchester, only use the old-style flat-nose bullets, or (I forget what they're called) bullets DESIGNED FOR LEVER ACTION RIFLES which have a SOFT pointed nose on them. If you load your own, bear in mind that these require a different cartridge length than the flat-nose bullets. Don't under any circumstances use pointed-nose bullets not designed for lever action rifles.
    Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.
