So, some of my former newspaper customers recently lost everything in a fire on New Year's day, and have been logging time in Harborview's ICU to boot. It sounds like the dad was injured the worst. He was actually outside when the fire started, and was injured whilst busting a window open to get to his daughters.
Fortunately, the community has stepped up to help them out, with donations of clothing, toys, money, etc.
One couple is getting them a furnished house. They're getting married and combining their assets, and instead of selling their extra home, they're letting the displaced family live there as long as they want to.
How awesome is that?
