  • The Mystery Shopper is a LIAR!

Posting this here cuz a Mystery Shopper who tells lies definitely counts as an SC in my book. Basically, we were visited by the MS and they gave us a bad score for two reasons.

    1. There was a huge queue and only one till open.
    2. There was a giant pile of mud in the middle of the floor which was ignored.

Both were big fat lies. Here is what really happened.

    1. It was about lunchtime when one till froze and could not be made to unfreeze. There were three of us on at the time, and since my number was locked inside the frozen till, that meant that I got to go out back and call the tech people. A few minutes later, and my colleague Sarah came out to tell me that her till had also frozen. She then went on to the shop floor, after putting out of order signs on the frozen tills, to inform customers that we had one till working. I continued to speak with tech.

    2. There was no mud at all on the floor; we had a big pile of customers, sure, but no-one could mistake them for mud.

Both of these were backed up with CCTV footage, and our manager Tessa was able to get the MS's report stricken from the record. We were also informed that this particular MS won't be working as an MS ever again, as we weren't the first store she'd made shit up about.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.

Good. Dishonest mystery shoppers are horrible. One cost me my job at the Drug Store From Hell, and another caused problems at the Fabric Store's old location.

I hate it when people lie about you or leave important information out.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

The worst part is they must KNOW their reports could cost someone a job. Who would make stuff up like that?!?

We're lucky. Big Green Cab Co's "mystery" riders are always usually people who have other jobs at the company, so those of us who have been with the company more than a few weeks tend to know them all.

He has a point....an SC would easily consider all others mud.

We had a new visit from a MS to make up for the liar, and got a good score.

That's good news. I'm glad you were able to prove the first one was lying as this could really have caused massive trouble!

And glad to hear the lying sack of sh*t won't be dong that anymore!

The kind of people who demand someone be fired if they don't get a refund of the full retail amount on an item that was bought on clearance and given to them as a gift for Christmas of 2012.

Crap. I don't want to take the time to do my full shopping tour. If I do the whole inspection, I'll miss tonight's Happy Hour at House of Whoopee. Looks like some sort of till problem. OK, I'll write it up as not enough tills. There's a dark shadow over there. I'll call it "mud."

Good. All done! They'll never know what it really looked like. Happy Hour, here I come!

As a one of them,we are told to document it all. Take pics, and then people know. Wallpaper falling off the walls-picture...Holes in the bedsheets-picture... meal arrived burnt to a crisp-picture...
If there's a problem, then I note it exactly-not just 'place was a mess and falling to pieces'...instead it's 'chunks of plaster falling off by table 23...large spill on floor by table 17'.

It's one thing to point out things that really are wrong (faulty equipment, rude service, items out of stock) but to just make shit up. Damn, that's some serious issues right there. I don't like working retail but I wouldn't take it out on other places.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

Technically true, even though it wasn't your fault, and fault should be forwarded up the chain to help either get more reliable equipment or thwap IT for buggy stuff.
