But the Wii launch, my God the Wiis. Parents got downright vicious over those things. Stock was so tight and EVERYBODY just had to have one.
You're giving me flashbacks to GameStore now >_>

    June of release year:
GS: How many Wii's will we be getting come December? We need to know how many to pre-sell.
    Ninty: 120
GS: Sweet! *takes 120 pre-orders before running out of them, less than 2 weeks later*

    ----------------

    Late Summer:
Ninty: Yyyyyeah. We've decided that big stores like the Mart of Wall and the Giraffe are really more important to us than you specialist video game stores that actually know what you're talking about when it comes to games. You're getting 60 at your store.
    GS: Wha...er...but you said...
Ninty: So sorry! *in background* Suckers
    GS: Well, shit.
    -----------------

    November:
Ninty: Hmmm... Looks like demand is really high! We're cutting your allotment down to 30.
    GS: FML
    -----------------

    December:
    The shipment arrives!

GS: Lesseeee....How many did we get...? WTF, Nofrendo?! TWELVE of the damn things?!

It took us until some time in March to fulfill the preorders x.x

I'll be standing watch over the PS4 launch tonight at the Big Yellow Price Tag. I'll be ready to go into full-on ass-whuppin' mode if people start acting ridiculous.

I just can't justify blowing that much money on a game console. At least with my laptop I can do so much more.

Could be worse. Adjusted for inflation being the first on your block to have a shiny new Atari 2600 for Christmas 1977 cost around $750! And when NES's first came out it was a little over $500 with software costing around $80-$100 each (those are inflation adjusted dollars mind you)!

I think I'll wait until my birthday in mid January to get my PS4.

Do you still get any idiots who ask if you can play Mario/Zelda on the Playstation or Xbox?
Yes, although they are now primarily the Chinese exchange students, whom I have to explain the concept of copyright to in general.

I plan on getting the ps4 tonight, primarily because I want to be able to keep up with what's happening so I can tell customers about it. I had planned on waiting, but then my household decided they all wanted to pitch in so they could get Contrast and Knack, so whelp. Here it is, so if you have any questions on how it runs, feel free to ask.

I don't feel particularly concerned about launch lineup or anything along those lines because I simply don't get rid of my consoles, so I'lil the be fine on my ps3 launches until the order and the like *cough octodad cough* come out.

Still, in the end, I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go to next gen, so long as they don't complain about nobody making games for their console anymore

Congrats sir, you are our first suck from launch, and it's not even 7 yet.

Random customer wanders up in the middle of the ring through of our spare ps4s.

CIBTAY: Clearly I'm better than all of you
B: Back to being manager, it's bossman!

There's a line that curves around the back of our store, everyone's been very friendly and polite to each other, its all good. A dude with one ps3 game (Back to the Future of all things)
CIBTAY stares at the long line, and people going up at call, and then plonks himself right behind someone at the register. Cue instant glaring from the line who just want to get their number and go.
B: "Something I can help you with buddy?"
CIBTAY: "yeah, what's this line for?"
B: "It's for the launch of the ps4."
              CIBTAY: "oh. Huh."
B: "It's still a line, so you do need to go to the back of it."
Instant smugness from the line, dude looks incredulous as he goes to the back of the line

New Console Insanity is precisely why I'm waiting until well after the holidays to acquire my next-gen consoles. And also because I never trust the first wave of hardware to work properly. (RRoD ahoy!)
Same here. And I'm not getting a PS4 until we get some word on a Kingdom Hearts 3 release date. Holding out for a KH bundle. Though that's not likely to happen. But it will give Sony time to work out all the release bugs and get the patches out.

Have you played the HD remakes on PS3 yet? If so how are they?

Hero -- I like the remake so far -- Looka verry niiice ^_^ Unfortunately, my PS3 gave up the ghost (again) before I could get very far. Just remember, the wording on the packaging is a tad vague; it's TWO games (KH 1 FM and Re: CoM) and a collection of cutscenes (358/2 Days), not 3 games. Watching that last one all in a row unlocks all of its cheevos (you can pause, of course -- it's a good 2 hours or better), along with its auxiliary stuff like a PS3 theme and wallpaper.

Bleh, glad I didn't bother getting it then. Already have both KH1:FM and Re:CoM which I imported ages ago and have no interest in re-buying just so I can attempt to watch it in "super-shiny HD" on my non-HD television >_> Only thing I might have been remotely interested in was playing 358/2 days on big-screen instead of teeny-weeny-eyestrain-o-vision.

Since I didn't import FM, I'm excited to have it. And the game has never looked better. That being said, the mechanics for KH1 are still clunky compared to the other games and the platforming still sucks. The ability trees have been revamped and shuffled around to include some new abilities--some of which are awesome, others not so much. And Proud mode is seriously fecking hard if you give up Shield. I'm getting my butt kicked by things I never had trouble with in the original.

The Days movie is pretty, but IMO doesn't tell the story very well. It's very bare bones and since they cut out all the fighting, some transitions are jarring. And they left out some of my favorite lines. I wish they'd had time to port the whole game since I actually really like Days.

I'm dreading CoM because I hate the card system. I'm putting it off as long as possible, lol.

CoM - Actually not so bad. I still prefer the main games, tho.

KH - Yeah, the changes to skills threw me for a loop. I did take shield/forsake sword, and I was like WTF what happened to Scan? >_< Note that you will have an extra Ability you may choose to set if you are on the hardest difficulty setting and don't think the game offers you enough of a challenge: one which prevents you from gaining EXP at all. ^_^ Enjoy.

358/2 Days thing was nice for filling in some of the gaps between 1 and 2, tho.

That was part of the reason I always picked Staff. Scan at level 9. Now? Level 15. I'm not patient enough to grind that out before hitting Traverse Town, lol

Ahahahahahaha......no. My controller's getting enough abuse as it is.

Although Exp 0 does give you a psuedo-Second Chance which keeps you alive after a combo that otherwise would kill you.

We'll get them on the 20th.

                              Of December.

Now would be a good time to visit So Very Unofficial!
