  • wherein i am punished for being nice-watch out rant!!!

i was working at everyone's favorite donut store last summer (this story pissed me off SO MUCH, i still remember it.) i had punched out and was leaving (unfortunately, still in my uniform.) this woman comes up to me as i was leaving and says "could you clean off this table for me? there's a lot of crumbs on it." being the nice guy i am, i pick up a napkin and help her out (BIG MISTAKE.) she then says "this is unbelievable. i expect to have a clean table when i come here." i just walked away (HUGEASS MISTAKE.) what i should have said was "listen bitch, go tell ur sob story to some poor worker on the clock. i am not paid to listen to customers bitch at me when I AM OFF THE CLOCK!" that's what i should have said. instead, i just walked away. unfortunately for me, due to my own choice, i left the company about a week later. and my regret working there is that i didn't tell that asswipe off. i hate bitchy ew's who can't appreciate someone who is trying to be nice to them, and instead tries to bitch at THEM for something that they shouldn't have to fix WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING. thanks for listening to my rant, sorry about the yelling and swears. but i needed to get that off my chest. be gentle.

I hate people like that, but I am a little confused, did she say it at you, or under her breath? Either way it was bitchy, but doesn't really seem like you were punished, and she didn't know you were leaving, you never told her.

People can be so rude though.

I don't understand why people just can't clean tables off themselves. Yeah, I know, technically it is the job of the store employees to keep the tables neat and tidy, but sometimes there isn't time to get to them before a new customer comes in, I imagine So you have to wipe some crumbs off of a table...it won't kill you. What absolutely infuriates me is people who LEAVE a mess on a table...really, there is no excuse whatsoever to not clean up after yourself.

she said it directly to me. also, she'd seen me waving bye to my cw's, and was in a hurry. if she had even 1 brain cell, she would've known that i was off the clock. and yes, while i may not technically have been "punished," it really made me feel like shit that, rather than appreciate the favor i was doing for her, she felt the need to bitch at me for something that was clearly not my fault, and that she could've solved herself by: doing what i did OR moving to another table.

So there were other clean tables? Yeah, then I totally get it. Thanks for clearing it up my confusion. I would have given her a piece of my mind as well, is it so hard to move two feet?

When it's a place like, say McDonalds or Hardees, and a whole table of people made a huge mess of condiments and sesame seeds.........I don't see why employees should be cleaning that up. Some people are so gluttonous and overly slobbish when out in public that it's disturbing.

I like (sarcasm) how people assume you can't do your job (of keeping the place clean), when it's obvious that there are too few of you to be going after everyone's ass to make sure the place stays tidy. Either you not serve people so you can wipe tables, or serve people and clean when you can.

I don't mind that people do come up and say, "the bathroom's dirty". I'll tell the cleaning people, and if this happens a lot more cleaning people will be hired. Spending 5 min. ranting on a dirty bathroom won't solve the problem.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.
