Anyone seen this film??? It's got Nicole Kidman in it and set in northern Australia during World War II. I love reading about WWII and found it a really good, insightful film to watch. I didn't even know that the Japanese had even gotten far enough to bomb Darwin! I haven't watched the whole film but after leafing through it parts of the film look like an Australian version of the film "Pearl Harbor". Very cool, educational film to watch.

    It's a WONDERFUL film.

Here's a couple quick facts about Australian films (especially epics): They *always* have multiple sweeping shots of the landscape, where a whole scene will just be of the countryside. Also, a common theme is the cultural struggle between the indigenous people and the British settlers.

My sister took a semester abroad in Sydney, and one of the classes she took was Interpretation of Australian Culture Through Film. So when I went to see the movie with her, I learned a lot.

If you haven't seen it yet, definitely go.
